A PERSONAL NOTE TO ALL OF MY CLIENTS, PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE:
** Friends, 2013 has been quite an eventful year for me. On New Year's Day, while preparing dinner for my family, I tripped over my cousin's dog and fell in my kitchen, fracturing my L2 vertebra and had to have surgery to repair the vertebra. Prior to this happening, I probably could not have even told you where on the human body the L2 vertebra is located. While I am recovering from that little mishap, I am still having significant pain. I am scheduled to have another procedure to deaden the nerve originating from that and other discs on the lumbar spine. I have learned so much about pain and pain management that I may even be able to offer a new line of psychotherapy in the near future. But on a happier note, my youngest son, Eric is getting married in Alaska the middle of September. So due to my medical procedures and the joy of traveling to Alaska to witness my son and his fiance's marriage, I have had to curtail my practice drastically this year. I hope to resume seeing clients on a full time basis when I return.
I will be doing things somewhat differently though. If you are reading this message then you are probably at least somewhat computer literate and are able to navigate the internet. I will be partnering with a company called Breakthrough Behavioral Health to offer online counseling whereby I will offer counseling through the internet. Breakthrough Behavioral has a platform somewhat like Skype, but with an added layer of security. For those of you who are not entirely comfortable with that venue, I will stil be seeing some clients in my office location, although my plan is to phase out that option by the end of the year. I hope you understand. The new way of interacting with clients will offer many benefits both for you and for me. For me, the most obvious benefit will be the lack of overhead expense. For you the benefits should include additional privacy in that you won't have to worry about who will see you coming to my office, the convenience of not having to arrange for a babysitter for your kids, decreased travel expenses, and additional hours of availability. You will have the ability of making payment online through paypal and many insurance companies, including AETNA, recognize this new treatment modality. I am looking forward to this new way of doing psychotherapy/family counseling/coaching and I hope that you will be too. So stay tuned.**
